Rise Up And Write

Happy new year, everybody! I have been thinking about you and praying for you over the last several days. And this scripture keeps coming to mind. So, I wanted to share with you.

"During those days the number of Jesus’ followers kept multiplying greatly. But a complaint was brought against those who spoke Aramaic by the Greek-speaking Jews, who felt their widows were being overlooked during the daily distribution of food. The twelve apostles called a meeting of all the believers and told them, ‘It is not advantageous for us to be pulled away from the word of God to wait on tables. We want you to carefully select from among yourselves seven godly men. Make sure they are honorable, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, and we will give them the responsibility of this crucial ministry of serving. That will enable us to give our full attention to prayer and preaching the word of God.’" - Acts 6:1-4 TPT

I just want to remind you, as we're going through this transition into the new year and this beautiful new start. There are so many ways I want to help - or I feel like there are so many different things I need to do - ways to get involved with my state and in my community. Maybe, I need to be serving all those around me. Maybe there are those who are sick with COVID. I feel this burden to help everyone. And while I do want to do that to the best of my ability and solve all these problems myself, this passage reminded me - and I want to remind you - to keep your focus on what God's put into your hands.

For me, I know that to be songwriting. Maybe there's a doctor on their way home from a rough round at the hospital that needs to hear a song of encouragement. And, maybe that's how I can contribute. Or, maybe someone is trying to pray over their children that are sick or their parents that are sick and they need a song to play. Maybe there is something I've written they can play over them that will give them encouragement. I know that you can do the same thing. He’s gifted you to give your songwriting as a gift.

So, as we come into this new year, I just want to encourage you to rise up and write, rise up and write. Don't be discouraged by all the things that you can't do, all the ways you’re falling short. Just know you can still write and God can use that in amazing and mighty ways. That's what you're called to do as songwriters. And that's what He's put in your hands to hold and steward. Keep your focus on Him and keep writing.
